To put on the spectacle currently being enjoyed by fans worldwide, South Africa has, over the last 4 years, spent an estimated R40 billion on the construction of stadia, transport and associated infrastructure; investing in the building of 5 new stadia and the renovation of 5 existing stadia.
In addition, there has also been a massive expansion of the current transport systems within the various host cities.
